How does smart charging work based on energy preferences on a dual-rate tariff?

If you're on a dual-rate tariff, set up Smart Charging with the following steps:
  • Specify Budget and Time:
    • Define a budget for the energy you wish to consume and a "ready by" time.
  • System Optimization:
    • The system will assess if your budget can be fully met during off-peak hours. If not, it will schedule additional charging sessions before off-peak times to fulfill your needs.
  • Charging Completion:
    • If your car reaches a full charge before the budget target is met, charging will stop, and the charger's status will change to 'Suspended EV,' indicating no further charge can be accepted.
  • Automatic Schedule Recreation:
    • The same charging schedule based on your target will be automatically recreated each time you plug in your vehicle.
  • Realistic Target Setting:
    • To maximize off-peak benefits, set a realistic energy target. Electric Miles calculates the schedule based on your set target rather than your battery’s current state. For example, if you target 40 kWh with a 7.2 kWh charger, the app will estimate a charging schedule of approximately 6 hours. If your off-peak window is shorter, the app will start charging before the off-peak period to make full use of the available time. Note that your battery may not accept the full 40 kWh, and charging might end before the off-peak period concludes.
